Golf Program Director
Educator, Golf Coach, Musician, Junior Golf Advocate and Mentor Sandy is a career educator. He earned a bachelorís degree and a masterís degree in music, and has done further study. His interest in golf began when he took an elective course in the sport as an undergraduate and has grown over the years as has his desire to assist students beyond the classroom. Helping students obtain college scholarships became a priority. Sandy has successfully combined his love of golf with his desire to help students. He is convinced that golf provides the essential tools for success in life. Understanding that golf teaches valuable life skills, Sandy views the sport as an excellent opportunity for him to pursue his passion to help young people realize their potential. He has been an advocate, coach, fundraiser and recruiter for junior golf programs for more than 17 years. He has mentored young students, encouraged them to go to college and has helped many get scholarships. EXPERIENCE: Sandy has participated in numerous golfing events, including: - Pro Am Golf Tournament in FL - Art Shell Celebrity Golf Tournament in MD - HBCU Golf Tournament in MD - District of Columbia Golf Tour - PGA Golf Show in FL - Playing ability test at Campbell University in NC. Sandy has been a college band director and music teacher, a high school golf coach in two DC schools, and was the Prince Georgeís County, MD First Tee Programís Coordinator for five years. He was tournament assistant for the area Metro Tour. Sandy is honored to be the Director of Programs for SMJGA.
